how to use contratiction method to prove a number irrational? because using that method i was salso able to prove that root 16 is iraational where as it is not irrational, we know that. Is our method of contradiction wrong?

no in next step √16 became 4

why are u going to use the method of contradiction for proving that root 16 is irrational? it is not at all necessary to do so. this is because the square of 4 is 16. therefore root 16 can be rewritten as root 4x4. therefore, it is 4.

i am in 6th , but i am studying 10th similar triangles, i just want to say that the contradiction method can be used also with rational number to prove it as irrational , i tried it 10 times.. the method is not accurate
