Answer:

"A set is a well defined collection of objects". Sometimes the definition is given as "A set is well defined collection of distinct objects."

Whether the objects are distinct or not does not matter much as even if the objects are repeated, they can be written in a set only once.

in order to verify a set of elements we have to see if it is well defined or not well defined. By well defined it means that there should be no ambiguity whether an element belongs to a set or not.

Example: A set of all the boys in the class who scored more than 90% marks in your class in the half-yearly exam is a well defined and therefore it is a set but a set of all the good students of your class is not well defined because how will you decide who are good students and who are not, therefore it is not a set.
