how to we prove that 8/9 is multiplicative inverse of -1 1/2


shujan: 8/9 × -9/8 = -1

No, its not the multiplicative inverse of -11/2

-11/2 x  y = 1

y = -2/11

-2/11 is the multiplicative inverse

the multiplicative inverse of 8/9 is

let the multiplicative inverse be x.

8/9 * x = 1

x= 9/8.

the multiplicative inverse of 8/9 is 9/8.

We can't prove that the multiplicative inverse of 8/9 is -1 1/2.
