Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum deputy commissioner (DC) Amit Kumar here on Friday directed the district civil surgeon to conduct medical examination of all under-trial and other prisoners undergoing treatment at MGM Hospital. He said the civil surgeon should regularly conduct such medical examination of prisoners brought to the government for treatment and take necessary steps to send them back to the jail.

Kumar issued the instructions at a meeting convened today to review the security arrangements and administration of Ghagidih Central Jail. He said the prisoners undergoing treatment in the hospital for a long time should be properly and regularly examined so that they may be sent back to the jail after treatment and without unnecessary delay.

The DC was informed that 95 per cent of the prisoners are produced in the Civil Court of Jamshedpur through video conferencing. He said he had ordered cent per cent production of all under-trial prisoners through video conferencing. He said the target should be achieved without fail.

During the review, Kumar directed the superintendent of Ghatsila Sub Jail to make proper lighting arrangements and assist the building construction department officials in the work being carried out in the sub jail.

The DC asked the superintendents of Ghagidih Central Jail and the Ghatsila Sub Jail to make people aware about e-Mulakat facility to meet the prisoners online. He further directed the SDO of Dhalbhum and SP City to conduct a security audit of Ghagidih Central Jail. He entrusted the SDO of Ghatsila and SP Rural to conduct the security audit of Ghatsila Sub Jail.

Today’s meeting was also attended by the ADM law and order, the Jailor of Ghagidih Central Jail, executive engineers of building construction and drinking water and sanitation departments.
