Dear Diary
I am feeling so hopeless and helpless to see the alarmingly increasing threat of pollution to mankind. If I am not exaggerating mankind is standing on the brink of self-created annihilation.
Our earth is cocooned in a huge bubble of transparent life-giving gases and substances in which we have our being. When this bubble was created it was filled with pure wholesome gases. However, when man learnt to tap latent resources of nature, industrialization followed. This industrialization led to urbanization. This reckless industrialization and urbanization combined with greed have done irrevocable damage to this beautiful environment of ours.Most of the gases, that were so wholesome, are now unwholesome and poisonous.
Man, the foolish creature, fails to see that his very existence depends on this delicate bubble of environment. Man's perception about the indispensability of the environment must change, otherwise the bubble will burst and his own existence will end with it.
In India particularly everyone is passing the buck of responsibility on others. All are exploiting the environment; no one is willing to preserve it! The present critical condition of our ailing environment is because of this apathetic attitude. If immediate conservation and preservation measures are not taken, we are bound to collapse.
We must dare to clear the clutter we see. We must try to do all that we can to wipe a tear; to plant a tree; to resist the temptation of littering the roads; to follow all the traffic rules; treat all the toxic smoke and effluents before releasing them into the environment. If all of us will take careful actions ensuring all's welfare, then all the ills in the world will automatically disappear. If we put it off till another day, may be that day will never come! It has already been delayed. O God, give us, the men and women, the wisdom and strength to conserve and preserve this delicate bubble of environment from this evil of pollution: or we are bound to be doomed!
