I have written this letter to inform you about the shortcomings of our Haritha Haram programme in Telangana state.


1. Many of the Eetha Chettu saplings planted during Haritha Haram have not survived. Study shows that survival rate of saplings is less than 50 % in many districts of Telangana.

2. Independent media sources claim that actual number of seeds planted are less than the high numbers shown by the state government. They claim lapses in inspection policy.

3. Out of a target of 1 billion plants, the forest department could only plant only 100 million seeds due to lack of adequate funds from state and central governments.

I would request you to publish an informative article to these failures so that the concerned authorities wake up and take some strong action.
