In a typical lab manual the ruled sheets are meant for the writing purpose, which have a standard format.
Mostly the ruled page is used to write the Aim, Principle on which the experiment is based, Requirements, Procedure, Observations and finally the Conclusion and other Remarks if any.
The top space in the ruled sheet is meant for writing the date of experiment and sometimes submission and the expt. number.
The blank pages are meant for drawing the neat and labelled diagrams associated with the expt and caculations or observation tables if any.
The writings and diagrams on blank page is preferably done with a pencil.
