Have you lost your mobile number / changed your mobile number that was registered with your saving bank account ? You should then update your mobile number in bank record. You have to submit a request to your bank manager through a letter. This article will help you how to do it.
Why you should update your mobile number registered with bank
Sometimes your registered mobile number with your bank account may be lost or you may have changed your mobile number. So you need to update it with your present mobile number so that you can avail some facilities, like SMS alert service, getting OTP if you do online money transaction / online bill payment, etc. I am sharing here a real experience in TMB bank for changing the registered mobile number.
My grandmother has a SB account with Tamilnadu Mercantile Bank. She don't use ATM card / Internet Banking for taking money. Always she used to withdraw money from bank only. But the problem is, it was very difficult to know her salary credited or not. She asked me 'is there anyway to check it before going to bank'. I said yes and downloaded TMB ePassbook app from Google playstore in my mobile. There I needed to enter customer ID and mobile number registered with TMB. I could able to get customer ID from her TMB passbook. But she didn't have the registered mobile number now as she changed mobile number 2 years back. So I was not able to register in the TMB ePassbook app as an OTP will be sent to that registered mobile number. Hence not able to check her account balance. So we both went to the TMB bank and explained it with the bank manager. He asked us to submit a request letter to update registered mobile number. Then I wrote a letter signed by my grandmother and submitted it to the bank and then now I am able to check the bank balance / transactions though the TMB ePassbook app. We also submitted a separate request letter for getting new ATM card. Want a letter format for new ATM card ? You may use this letter format, Sample letter format to request the bank manager to issue a new ATM card.
