Many areas of Bihar have been raining heavily for the last few days. Water has entered 80% of the houses in the capital Patna.
The capital received 40% of the monsoon rains within 48 hours from Saturday evening to Sunday evening. The four rivers near Patna, Son, Ganga, Gandak and Punpun, have risen above the danger mark.
Flood water has also entered Nalanda Medical College and Hospital, the second largest healthcare facility in Patna, leaving the Emergency and ICU wards flooded with knee-deep water. Residents in flooded areas were taken out in rescue boats. Municipal cranes were also used to rescue people. There is no power supply in Bihar since the last 3 days.
