Concept

The location of the commas is the primary distinction between the International and Indian number systems (separator). In the Indian system, lakhs are written after thousands, but millions are written after thousands in the international system. The BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) of the Government of India thus officially recommends use of the date format YYYY-MM-DD.

Explanation

In Indian numeration system we write birthday in the pattern of DD-MM-YYYY, and in international numeration system we write year first then month then date like YYYY-MM-DD.

Hence, in Indian system we write DD-MM-YYYY AND in International system we write YYYY-MM-DD.
