hey buddy,

chemical formula of a substance is its symbolic representation, which also tells the no. of atoms contained in it.

this is a lifetime lesson.

chemical formula is written by writing its valency, and its symbol.

for example ... formula of rock salt.

it has : Sodium (Na ) and Chlorine(Cl)

Na has 1+ valency and Cl has 1- valency,thus.... formula= NaCl.

more are...

ferric chloride...

Fe 3+ and Cl 1-.

thus, FeCl3

Answer:

water = H2O

Explanation:

There is a definite proportion of the constituents elements in a compound.Certain number of the atom of the constituents elements are joined to each other in a molecule of a compound.

valency of hydrogen is 1 and valency of oxygen is 8

to form octet 1 hydrogen compound required

therefore 2 molecules of hydrogen and 1 oxygen molecule form H2O
