First you have to decide for which side you want to say. Like against the motion or for the motion. then if you have choosen for the motion collect all the important point that is supporting your topic. and always try to choose those points which can't be opposed by against the motion candidate. and whenever your opponent is saying his points then try to understand those points and try to cut those points by making on your own for the motion of your topic.
