2. Now, find the longest chain containing functional group.
3. 5 carbons are there in the longest chain. So it is pent.
4. We have to give numbering in such a way that the sum of numbering of substitute and functional group is least.
5.Now, we have to mention the substitute name first with its number we have to add ol at the end of the name. Since OH represents alcohol.
So, the name is 2-ethyl pentan-1-ol or 2-ethyl 1-pentanol

We have to select the longest chain in such a way that it contains functional group as well as more number of carbons.
I haven't chosen straight way because it doesn't contain functional group.
