Answer:

Well, the good news is, a percentage is already a fraction! Just give the percentage amount a denominator of 100 (so that the percentage number becomes a numerator)… multiply by powers of 10 if necessary to make the numerator a whole number…. and then simplify by whatever method you prefer.

Example: 62.5 percent.

Make into a fraction with denominator of 100 as follows: 62.5/100

Multiply both top and bottom by 10 to get the numerator up to a whole number, like so: 625/1000

Simplify! I would look at it and say to myself, I know both 625 and 1000 divide evenly by 25, so my first step is to divide both top and bottom by 25, giving me: 25/40.

Then I see that 25 and 40 both divide evenly by 5, so I do the division and get: 5/8.

And, 5/8 is as “simple” as this example allows!

Hope this helps.

How do you Convert Percent to Fraction?

To convert a percent to a fraction,

we have to remove the percent sign and divide the given number by 100.

And, then we express the fractional form of the percentage in the simplest form.

EXAMPLE

1% is 1/100, 2% is 2/100 which can be reduced to 1/50.
