Answer:
The students of Delhi Public School enthusiastically participated in various activities to
commemorate our benevolent Mother Earth. On the occasion of the Earth Day, an array of
creative activities was organized with a view to sensitize the children about the conservation of
natural resources and to motivate them to do their bit towards making their planet even more
beautiful.
The week commenced with a power point presentation on the importance of the Earth Day and
the students took a pledge to preserve and conserve their self-sustaining planet.
‘Be a Designer’ activity was organized which invigorated the young minds towards the
conservation of wildlife. The students of classes III, IV and V turned trash into treasure as they
designed beautiful bookmarks, envelopes and paper bags with inspiring quotes and learnt the art
of reducing, reusing and recycling.
‘Be a Reporter activity’ gave our students an opportunity to play the role of young environment
reporters and these little inquisitive journalists compiled interesting reports on various
environmental issues like adverse effects of rampant construction activities in Gurugram,
occurrence of smog in NCR, traffic congestion etc.
A special assembly was also held to celebrate the Mother Earth wherein the school choir
presented a mellifluous song which was followed by a thought provoking skit and a soulful
dance dedicated to our blue planet. On this occasion, the Principal, Ms. Aditi Misra praised the
efforts of all the students and asked them to thank the Mother Earth for all its bountiful gifts in
the form of all flora, fauna and beautiful landscapes.
Other activities like ‘Poster Making’ and ‘Show and Tell’ gave the students a platform to
showcase their artistic and creative skills. The corridors of the school reverberated with the
thoughtful slogans raised by the students as they took a green walk to sensitize others about the
importance of saving environment.
With an aim to spread awareness amongst the young and old alike, a street play titled ‘Ek Nayi
Pahal’ was performed by the talented students of classes IV and V at the Galleria market DLF
Phase 4 and the primary wings of Delhi Public School- Gurgaon at sector 40 and 47. The play
depicted the dire need to protect the Earth and proved to be an eye-opener for the audience. The
parents witnessing the performance of their little ones were proud to see them performing with
such an élan and confidence.
The events of the week rekindled emotive concerns and instigated the youngsters to save, love
and respect Mother Nature with all their heart and soul.
