how to write sentences in passive voice
Answers
Answer:
Converting a sentence in active voice to passive voice is pretty simple if you understand how to do it.
▶ First you should separate the words into "subject", "verb", "object" which makes it easier to convert.
Example:
Jack is eating pie ⇒ Jack / is eating / pie
(sub) (verb) (object)
▶ Then you should "reverse" the sentence i.e) the object should be in the place of subject and subject should be in the place of object. It is represented as follows,
Subject + Verb + Object ⇒ Object into subject + Past participle form of verb + by +Subject into object
▶ The word "by" should be added to passive voice after the verb or before the object in passive.
▶ The verb is also changed while changing into passive. The best trick to remember it is that the number of verb increases by one when it is converted into passive. ie) if there are two verbs in active voice it will become three in passive voice.
Example:
Jack is eating mango ⇒ Mango is being eaten by Jack.
▶ The main verb is converted into past participle form of the verb. If the active voice is in continuous form then in the passive form the word "being" is used between the auxiliary and past participle verb.
▶ If the active voice has the verb "has/have/had" then the passive voice will have the word "been" between the auxiliary and past participle verb.
▶ If the active voice has the "modal verbs" then the passive voice will have the word "be" between the auxiliary and past participle verb.
▶ The pronouns are also changed ie) I into me, they into them, she into her, he into him.
