General slope of land is written like,
Eastwards
Westwards
South east wards
South westwards and so on .
It depends on question
There are several ways to find the slope
1. Take look at contours, the high contours mean higher slope and llwer means llwer
2. Then take a look at spot heihts which also tells where is the higher ground and lower ground
3. If there is a river body , pay attention on it . If the river is narrow it is in its upper course meaning higher slope . If the river has broadened and meandering that is curved it means it is in its lower course and has more volume of water due to confluence with tributaries.
