ultrasound waves have a high directivity ie it moves in a straight line and it even reflects! ultrasound waves are sent in the cracks in the metal blocks and when an obstacle viz. the flaw obstructs the path, the ultrasound waves are reflected and according to it the location of the flaw can be detected. therefore..
