The United States officially joined WW2 on the side of the Allied Powers on December 7th, 1941, directly following Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor, an attack that outraged Americans.

While the US formally joined WW2 in 1941, they provided materials to countries like the USSR and the UK before they formally joined the war. Franklin Roosevelt, who was President at the time, believed that formal US involvement in the war was inevitable, and was preparing the US to fight in it. There is a common saying about World War 2, “World War 2 was won with British Intelligence, Soviet Blood, and American Steel.” America supplied approximately 154 billion dollars worth of materials to the Soviet Union alone, with more materials provided to other Allied nations, before they even entered the war.
