how valency of hydrogen can be -1 ? And nitrogen can have valency fom -3 to +5 ?

Hydrogen-

It has only one electron so to complete its shell it accepts one electron. So, its valency is -1.

Nitrogen-

It completes its first orbit with 2 electron and remains 5 electrons for the next shell. To fill up the shell completely it accepts three electron. So, its valency is -3.
