when ethanol is oxidized using acidified DI cromate or alkalined potassium permanganate the reaction are as follows
C2H5OH + O2 → CH3COOH + H2O
ethanol acetic or ethanol acid
add 4 to 6 % of acetic ch3cooh to water h2o it becomes vinegar.
