  • Viruses are ultramicroscopic organism s that are visible only through electron microscope.
  • They are smaller than bacteria.
  • They cannot reproduce by their own as they lack the required machinery for replication. Therefore, they need to infect a host cell.
  • The virus gets inside the host cells and makes hundred and thousands of copies of itself by using the host machinery.

Viruses are the connecting link between Living & Non-Living organisms.These react as Non-Living in the Environment until it comes in contact of Living Cell. Viruses are different from other microbes in these ways

they can only reproduce when they attack any cell, unlike other microbes which can reprouce freely.

They are similar to obligate intracellular parasites as they lack the means for self-reproduction outside a host cell, but unlike parasites, viruses are generally not considered to be true living organisms.
