Your body is designed to get thevitamin D it needs by producing it when your bare skin is exposed tosunlight. The part of the sun's rays that is important is ultraviolet B (UVB). ... Exposing your skin for a short time will make all the vitamin D your body canproduce in one day.

hope it helps.

Vitamin D is produced in the body when exposed to sunlight. The precursor of vitamin D is present in the body in the form of cholesterol, 7- dehydrocholesterol. When body is exposed to sunlight, UV radiations are received by the skin. These radiations convert the precursor cholesterol into vitamin D3 in the skin. this vitamin is carried to the liver where it is converted into active form, the Vitamin D.
