it all started in France, the ppl wanting to establish democracy to rule over the regimes of kings. they sure got democracy but they got Napoleon who is somewhat a big abuser of democracy. he made it into a dictatorship. but he was defeated at the Battle of Waterloo and the states n kingly regimes which defeated him ruled over France. this made the ppl of France angry over the govt and the lack of freedom of speech. (just like Kashmir today) so the ppl of France began forming underground revolutionary groups and armies to fight their oppressors. this fight for having a nation spread throughout Europe n the world like forestfire and can be considered a major reason why 19th century is associated with the rise of nationalism and nation states.
