Ali's old age was diametrically opposite to his youth. During his youth, Ali was a pleasure-seeking being. He was an accomplished hunter, and had killed many innocent partridges and hares. However, when he grew old, the sudden and sad incident of his daughter's elopement changed him completely. He became a very serious and sensitive man. He gave up hunting, and his heart became sensitive to omnipresent love and the pain involved in it. His only purpose of life was now to receive a letter from his daughter. He died waiting for it.
