Ashoka, his father and grandfather used to attack weaker regions around their kingdom in order to spread their kingdom but after the Kalinga War Ashoka changed his ideology and started to follow Buddhisim and considered all people same irrespective of their social origin. He started to interact with people in order to solve their problems and asked people to follow the path of unity.
