He's predecessors followed religious tolerance and maintained friendly relations with Rajputs.But he was an orthodox god-fearing Muslim.He kept on his battle with marathas although that caused loss of manpower and money. he never looked after his subjects.he grew unpopular among people when he re-introduced jaziya.
but unlike other rulers.who took monet from treasury to lead their luxurious lifestykle,aurangzeb sewed caps and copied quran to sell to run his livelihood

Each of Aurangzeb's predecessors seems to have a distinctive method of ruling, due to each of the leaders' characters and confrontations. Aurangzeb is known for his religious intolerance, which lead to the beginning of the downfall of the Mughal Empire in the early 1700's.
