he's predecessors followed religious tolerance and maintained friendly relations with Rajputs. But he was an orthodox god-fearing Muslim. He kept on his battle with marathas although that caused loss of manpower and money. he never looked after his subjects.he grew unpopular among people when he re-introduced jaziya.
but unlike other rulers.who took monet from treasury to lead their luxurious lifestykle, aurangzeb sewed caps and copied quran to sell to run his livelihood

Aurangzeb was given the title of Alamgir, meaning conqueror of the world.During his long reign of 49 years ,the mughal empire reached the largest size ,covering nearly the whole world.
Aurangazeb was completely different from other rulers .
He held a very simple lifestyle and was described as Zinda pir or living saint.
he never wore costly robes nor used gold and silver vessels.
He was not in favour of taking money from the treasury for his personal use.
Unlike Akbar who had a friendly Rajput policy Aurangzeb followed the policy of Interference in affair of Rajput states of Marwar and Mewar.

Hope it helps u.....
