Bengal was divided into two parts
West Bengal and East Bengal by Lord Curzon.
They first settled in Calcutta and established East India British Company .
So,Bengal came under control of British.
East Begal now is Bangladesh.

The British pound to successive battles with the nawabs of Bengal .
Battle of Plassey in 1757 and the Battle of Buxar in 1764 which completely brought Bengal under the British control.
