It was Dr. Chisholm who advised Helen’s parents to consult Dr. Alexander Graham Bell of Washington concerning Helen’s education. Dr. Bell received the Kellers very warmly. Dr. Bell suggested Mr. Keller to write to Mr. Anagnos, director of the Perkins Institution in Boston, and request him if he could provide special teacher who was skilled to teach Helen. As a result of these efforts Miss Sullivan was sent to Helen’s house by Mr. Anagnos.
