how was education used as a weapon by vietnamese to fight against colonialism?

Vietnam was ruled by French.So, for the betterment of their status they started educating the people in vietnam.But they was in a fear that after gaining the knowledge vietnamese may argue with them to move out of vietnam.So,they gave the education in which French was said as great.
