English language education came to the effect as a result of colonization.

Initially, Indians were speaking different languages and English was not part of the languages taught in schools.

Due to British colonization of India, they came with their language and in order to make their work easier, they decided to teach the locals the English language.

The effect was that even the Indian movies were later translated to English.
