on   27th february the police headquarters were ransacked and the streets thronged with people raising slogans about bread ,wages,better hours and democracy.By that evening,soldiers and striking workers had gathered to form a soviet or a council in the same building as the duma met . this was petrograd soviet.the very next day the delegation went to see tsar. military commanders advised him to abdicate the throne and on 2 march the tsar abdicated the throne thus leading to end of monarchy.
