Uses of fire to the early humans :-

  • Fire served as a major tool for advancement among the earliest inhabitants of the earth. Archeological evidence found in Israel unequivocally carbon dates charred animal bones to at least 200,000 B.C.
  • There is also POSSIBLE traces of campfires as old as 1 million years, which would put it as a discovery by Homo erectus, the hominin species before Homo sapiens. Fire provided man with a source of warmth.
  • Important for the obvious reason of warmth on cold nights, but taking it even further, it may have helped man expand geographically. Man was confined to warmer climates, but once he was able to make fires and generate heat, he would be able to migrate to colder places because he had the ability to bring a source of warmth, besides clothing with him.
  • In turn, this might have increased the lifespan of the average man, kept him from getting frostbite or hypothermia.
