Roman Empire has many little princedoms, kingdoms, duchies, and principalities. Now those areas are called England, United Kingdom, France, Spain etc.

In the earlier, the entity of England, France, and Spain are the one entity rose up the power over others, whereas German and Italy contains many entities but under one rule.
