how was galileo able to conclude that acceleration of an object falling freely towards the Earth does not depend on the mass of the object

Where m gets cancelled hence we can say that acceleration of freely falling body does not depends on mass of the object. Because gravity is a “constant”, a pound of bricks and a pound of feathers hit the ground at the same speed, 9.8m/s^2. Because gravitational force is depended on mass, force is more for massive body.
