Griffin was a lawless man as he committed lots of crimes after turning invisible. His landlord disliked him and tried to eject him, so to take revenge Griffin set his house on fire and flees away. Moreover, Griffin stole money from a shopkeeper in London and the clergyman in Iping. He also attacked Mrs. Hall and knocked the contable Jaggers unconscious. Thus, Griffin had no regard for laws which established him as a lawless man.
