How was icse 2020 chemistry?
Please give the answer for why sodalime is used instead of naoh in preparation of methane. I have written it acts as a catalyst and helps in the reaction to occur at 300 degree C. So, is it correct?

(1)  Sodalime is easy to handle because solid sodium hydroxide is corrosive in nature.

 (2) Sodalime absorb less amount of water as compare to NaOH

In the decarboxylation reaction we use soda lime mixture.

sodalime is manufactured by mixing of NaOH and quick lime or calcium oxide i.e. CaO.

         CH₃COONa  + (NaOH + CaO)      →     CH₄ + Na₂CO₃+ CaO

in the decarboxylation reaction alkane is formed with sodium carbonate.
