Sea travels that took more than 3 days without a port of call in between were banned. ... So Brahmins did travel by sea to places they'd reach under 3 days of voyage like Srilanka, Malaysia, Burma, Arabia and Indonesia. Blind interpretation of the rules has led to the thinking that Brahmins must not cross the ocean today.
