The given are the measures taken by the Sri Lankan government to achieve majoritarianism:
1. The democratically appointed Government of Sri Lanka announced an ordinance in 1956 to reinstate the English language with Sinhala. The management did not furnish any attention to the language of Sri Lankan Tamil; Tamil language.
2. The state enacted a plan which favored the Sinhala candidates in education and state employment.
3. A new constitution revealed that now onward, Buddhism would be followed and promoted by Sri Lanka.
4. The Sri Lankan government did not provide the Tamils with its citizenship rights.
5. All these measures were taken by the state that eventually enhanced the feeling of alienation for Tamils.
