The book was written by Helen Keller when she was just 22 years old.The Story of My Life reminds the author's early life. The book, though printed in 1903,is still in print.
Miss Anne Mansfield Sullivan was Helen's teacher and mentor. She came into her life when she was just 7 years old.She was sent by the Perkins institute for blind. The day of arrival of Miss Sullivan was 3rd March 1887 which was the most important day for Helen as she opened the gate of information to her.She guided Helen through all phases of her life.Helen experienced many parts of nature with her.
Miss Sullivan taught her to communicate by spelling the words on her hand.Misx Sullivan understood the difficulties faced by the blind people.
She was adorable woman and had a great patience . She also taught her subjects like History, Zoology, Geography etc. She also helped Helen in learning speaking.Together they spent a lot of good times,She taught Helen to communicate with other people. She taught Helen to become independent.
The greatest lesson taken away from the book is the value of perseverance...
