Ryotwari System was introduced by Thomas Munro in 1820. ... In Ryotwari System the ownership rights were handed over to the peasants. British Government collected taxes directly from the peasants. The revenue rates of Ryotwari System were 50% where the lands were dry and 60% in irrigated land.

in this system tillers (farmers) where considerd as the owners of the land there was direct connection between farmers and the company , farmers had to pay 50 percent of the profit they get as tax , the farmers where not able. to pay the tax they were asking from money lenders they were not able return the money to lenders and finally they had to loose their land.
