rowlatt act was widely opposed by ppl.. gandhi launched the rowlatt satyagraha to oppose this act in which masses rejected n refused to cooperate with this act Rowlatt Act was an Act introduced by the British government
in 1919. It gave the government wide powers to repress political
activities and allowed arrest of political prisoners without trial
for two years. Indians disapproved this Act in the following ways :
( Rallies were organised in various cities, workers went on strike in railways, workshops and offices were closed down.
( Dr. Satyapal and Dr. Saif-ud-din Kitchlew were arrested.
(Jallianwala Bagh massacre occurred against the arrest of these leaders.

Before knowing why was Rowlatt act opposed let's get familiar with what was Rowlatt Act.
Rowlatt Act was passed on by the British government which stated that British Indian Army or British Police have the rights to punish or arrest anyone without any legal proof.
This arose anger in minds of many Indians one of them was our famous leader Mahatma Gandhi. He then led to Rowlatt satyagraha.
The people of India then organised rallies in different places and organised strikes in most part of the country.
They also organised a protest metting at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar.
