It gave the government enormous powers to repress political activities and allowed detention of political prisoners without trial for two years. (ii) A peaceful protest meeting was organised at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar. (Hi) Gandhiji started a hartal against this unjust law on 6th April, 1919.
