Samuel did not scold Swami as other teachers would have done. He was good to Swami even though he was a strict teacher.
- In the story, 'Father's Help', written by R.K. Narayanan, Swami did not want to go to school so he fakes a headache but fails to convince his strict father.
- As a second plan, he tells his father how his teacher Samuel scolds those kids who arrive in his class late. His father gives him a letter to give to the principal in case the teacher scolds him and tells him to tell the teacher about his headache.
- But to his surprise Samuel does not scold him for arriving late to the class and also forgives him for not doing homework as Swami tells him that he had a headache but still he cam to school as his father said so.
