How was the democratic republic of Vietnam formed? What were the problems before the republic? (For 5 Mark's)

1) The Great Depression of the 1930s had great impact on Vietnam. The prices of rice and rubber fell which lead to rise of rural debts, unemployment and rural protests in certain provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh

2) These provinces were among the poorest having old traditions and were termed as ‘electrical fuses’ of Vietnam.

3) The French suppressed these uprisings, by using plane bombings. In 1930, Ho Chi Minh brought together nationalist groups and established Vietnamese Communist Party which was later renamed as Indo – Chinese Communist Party.

4) The League for the Independence of Vietnam fought the Japanese occupation in 1940, and recaptured Hanoi in 1945.

5) As a result, the Democratic Republic of Vietnam was formed and Ho Chi Minh became its Chairman.
