The first metal able to be worked by humans was copper.
Copper exists in workable form naturally, and need not be “smelted” as does iron.
It is quite soft, but it can be “work hardened” by pounding.
Early cultures made decorations, ornaments, and small tools and weapons like arrow-points, daggers, and the like.

the discovery of metal was an event of great importance. copper is not difficult to smell so the early artisans found very useful for making axes, chisels and swords. they also used copper for making rings and other ornaments. secondly with the help of stronger tools made of metal, man could cut down the crops and trees in a much better way...
