French society was divided into three estates ..
1. Clergy ..
It was a group of church people. They have exemption from paying tax to anyone. They levied a tax named tithe from third estate.
2 . nobility
The group of noble people was called nobility. They also have exemption from paying tax to anyone. they levied a tax named taille from the third estate.
3.Third estate
It comprised of big businessman, lawyers, court officials, peasants, artisans, labourers, and rest of the society. All burden of paying taxes was on them .
