Erode: Thirty forest department officials struggled for 12hours to chase away three wild elephants that destroyed banana and sugarcane plants on two acres near Bhavanisagar in the early hours of Saturday.

The herd came out of Vilamundi forest area on Bhavanisagar forest range on Friday night in search of food and water, department officials said.
