It was started in1907 to provide western style education. it taught the students about science, hygiene and also French The idea of the school to what it meant by mordern was prevalent at that time The school also taught that the vietanmese not only needed to learn western ideas but also look modern to be modern. The school also encouraged the adoption of western styles such as short haircut.
